Cigars To The Troops
A man in Denver, Colorado is on a mission to send cigars to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Clay
Carlton, who runs Palma Cigars learned to roll his own cigars a few years ago and now sends boxes of his cigars
overseas to the troops. He now has the ambitious goal of sending out 10,000 cigars per month. Since Carlton
can only roll 50 cigars per day himself we assume he'll be sending out a variety of brands. More information on
how to donate (or pick up some cigars for yourself) is available on Carlton's website.

OK, so we're supposed to "reward" the young men and women we send overseas who risk life and limb for us with cigars? They should throw in a little Agent Orange while they are at it. Risk life in Iraq just to come home and get mouth / tongue / esophageal / lung cancer 10 years later? NO THANKS.

As somebody who is currently serving in the Marine Corps, I can attest to the fact that regardless of what you might think about the harmful effects of smoking, the troops will GREATLY appreciate it. They want to be appreciated, and a small comfort of home. Sending cigars to them will not make them a smoker if they already aren't. And those that are smokers, will appreciate it even more. They will thank you and enjoy the chance to remove themselves from the stresses of life, even only for a few minutes.

Fair enough. I guess that the people that volunteer for this type of duty are more concerned with patriotic duty than self-preservation. I am glad there are people out there that are will to do this. I think I'd rather send a gallon of ice cream, but given the circumstances, I'm guessing a cigar will hold up better. Either way, I just hope they understand they are appreciated.

Hi
I'm station in Kubal afghanistan. Kubal is a hard place to be. Especially around the holidays. A cigar now and then shore helps to cope with this place.
How can get on your list to receive a donation or two.
Thanks

I recieved a box of cigars from Mr. Carlton a few weeks ago. Boy, were they a hit. I passed them out to our resident cigar smokers in the Battalion and everyone loved the idea that someone out there cares about what we are doing over here and the sacrifices our men in service make. I saved one for myself, as well and it was a very creamy smoke and full of flavor. I think Clay could easily sell these cigars at 5-20 bucks apiece, but instead he gives them to the men and women that dedicate their lives to keeping America safe and free.
My kevlar's off to you, Mr. Carlton.
